Worth Knowing

Know before you go !

First, do your research. What you want to catch dictates were you want to go and fish. Once you decide where you want to go, find out what charter boats are in the area. Read magazines, get on line and put some time in to find out all you can about your options.

If you can, talk to the skipper before you go out. Tell him/her what you would like to catch, your level of experience and if you would prefer calmer waters or are happy to corkscrew all day if the fish are there.

You are out there to have fun, not sit in a corner looking green and feeling miserable. If you start to feel unwell, tell the crew ! Here in Kadavu, we can always move to calmer waters.

A good charter boat will take your wishes into consideration when deciding how and where to fish.

Tag & Release

We release all Billfish, clients may tag or not tag, it’s their choice. But the fish will be released.

Tag and release is a form of catch and release fishing in which the angler attaches a tag to the fish, records data such as date, time, place, and type of fish on a standardized postcard, and submits this card to a fisheries agency or conservation organization.

Anglers who catch tagged fish report their location, date, and time, as well as the tag number to established points of contact.

What to wear

Shorts and t-shirts are perfect for the climate in the canaries. We would like you to wear a shirt if sitting on the sofa inside the boat and please bring the correct footwear, i.e. Non-marking sandals, shoes or trainers/sneakers.

It can get very hot in the cockpit of the boat, so please be careful and protect yourself from sunburn, e.g. Wear a cap, glasses and sunscreen!!

Please only apply sun cream outside of the boat, not inside!
